Impartiality is fundamental to the value of certification. International Assessment Bureau is committed to conducting its certification activities objectively, and to identifying and managing anything that could compromise that objectivity.

Our Commitment

Certification decisions are based solely on objective evidence of conformity, or nonconformity, obtained during the audit. They are never influenced by commercial, financial or other pressures.

Managing Conflicts of Interest

  • We do not offer management system consultancy to organisations we certify, and we do not certify organisations where a conflict of interest exists, including through consultancy relationships, ownership or close personal relationships.
  • Auditors and decision-makers are screened for conflicts of interest before being assigned to an engagement.
  • The decision to certify is always made by someone who was not part of the audit team.

Open Access

Our certification services are accessible to any applicant within our declared scope of activity, regardless of size, sector or membership of any association or group, and are not conditional on membership of any body.

Monitoring Impartiality

Risks to impartiality are reviewed on an ongoing basis as part of our management system, and any identified risk is addressed through appropriate safeguards. Anyone, internal or external, can raise a concern about impartiality through our Appeal and Complaints procedure.
