BS 10119:2026 Certification

BS 10119:2026, Provision of labour to the security and events sector – Code of practice, is a British Standard published by BSI on 30 June 2026. It replaces the former NSI Code of Practice 119 (NCP 119) and sets out good practice for organisations that supply staff into the security and events sector, from door supervisors and stewards to event security teams.

Certification against BS 10119:2026 gives clients, venues and event organisers independent assurance that a labour provider has the systems, screening and training in place to supply a safe, competent and properly vetted workforce. The code of practice covers:

  • Service conditions, service scope and top management involvement

  • Resources – finances, payroll, insurance and premises

  • Personnel – recruitment and selection, right-to-work and screening (including SIA licence checks), induction and ongoing training, counter-terrorism training, and uniform and equipment

  • Sales – initial customer contact, information about the service provided, and agreements

  • Operations – staff deployment and management, supplier due diligence, confidentiality and complaints handling

  • Retention of documentation and records

Who needs this certification

BS 10119:2026 is intended for companies that provide labour into the security and events sector – including security guarding and stewarding agencies, event staffing providers, and businesses supplying crowd and venue safety personnel. Many venues, local authorities and event organisers now expect suppliers to hold recognised code-of-practice certification before they will be awarded a contract, so certification can be an important part of winning and retaining this type of work. Previously approved NSI NCP 119 companies can also use certification to BS 10119:2026 to evidence their transition to the new standard, while new applicants can be certified against it directly.

What certification involves

Our assessment reviews your organisation against each clause of BS 10119:2026, including staff selection and screening records, SIA licence verification, induction and counter-terrorism training, supplier due diligence, and your complaints-handling and record-retention arrangements. Nonconformities are agreed and closed out before certification is confirmed, and certified organisations are subject to ongoing surveillance audits to maintain their certificate.
